In September 1974, Robin, Jimmy and myself got together in London and rented an old Victorian church to rehearse in and jam. The London rehearsals were designed to work out a new sound for the band, to help the new lineup gel, and to firm up ideas for the bands third album "For Earth Below". It wasn't an abandoned church, but it wasn't being used for services and it had great acoustics. After rehearsing for a few weeks, we returned to Los Angeles to start recording "For Earth Below" at The Record Plant in Hollywood with Matthew Fisher producing. We cut the album and it seems like we went right on tour.

I remember that my first show with the band was in Rochester, NY, November 4th, 1974. Some of the tracks on this CD come from those September 1974 jams and rehearsal sessions at the old Victorian church in London and others were from rehearsals at SIR (Studio Instrument Rentals) in Hollywood with organist Bobby Lyle.

All of the tracks on this CD are jams from rehearsals. They were recorded on a Revox 2 track tape machine in the rehearsal room. This CD is very unique because it shows an early stage of development in the creative process as we worked on ideas, went over songs from the first two albums and worked out new ideas for the third album.

This CD is a rare opportunity to hear the newly formed band lineup having fun and letting go in a rehearsal setting. This CD gives all you guitar players a chance to jam along with Robin on these long instrumental tracks.
