Getting there is half the adventure, but the fishing makes it worth every portage. Join us as we explore this remote lake and chase fish in one of the wildest places in the Boundary Waters region.

We spent one unforgettable day exploring the remote Canadian side of Lac La Croix, just beyond the Boundary Waters of northern Minnesota. Navigating this sprawling border lake by motor boat, we ventured into secluded coves and rocky points to chase walleye, smallmouth bass, and northern pike — and the bite was on from the start.

It wasn’t just about the fish — though the day ends with a massive northern pike hookup that you won’t want to miss. This trip was about the full experience: crossing backcountry portages by machine rail, drifting past ancient Ojibwe pictographs etched into cliff faces, and soaking in the silence of endless sky and still water.

With sun on our backs and glassy water beneath the hull, it was one of those rare days where everything comes together: wild fishing, cultural discovery, and the untouched beauty of the Canadian wilderness.
