SAMD51 with Atmel Start: a better USB virtual serial port

In this video we improve upon the original example code to make a more usable virtual serial port on a SAMD51 microcontroller. This code will also work for the SAMD21, you just need to do the initial configuration steps differently (as demonstrated in the SAMD21 tutorial video).

The Microchip/Atmel documentation is not the best, and their examples are incomplete. Therefore, I was only able to do this after a lot of research on internet forums. Here are some forum links that I found helpful:
