Quantum mechanics is a theoretical subject equipped with advanced mathematical ideas. Describing the behavior of particle without looking at it, was one the biggest obstacle to study the microscopic world. This difficulty was overcome by Quantum Mechanics with the help of some mathematical tools that allows to describe the nature of atomic word. In this Chapter, will study some of the very fundamental tools of mathematics which helps us in explaining the quantum nature of atomic world.
In quantum mechanics, physical processes such as measurement, time evolution, or rotation are related to the quantum state. You should always realize that the fundamental entity in quantum mechanics is not a continuously existing particle (or ensemble of particles), but the quantum state. In this chapter we will study mathematical ground work important to study quantum mechanics. Included in this chapter are the notations of Hilbert space, operators and basic equations of quantum mechanics, namely Schrodinger equation.
