Yellowfin Tuna on Lures at Cebaco Bay, Panama.

In this episode, we joined Cebaco Bay Sportfishing, Panama on an epic day of tuna fishing off the infamous remote and pristine Cebaco Island. Not 15 minutes after leaving the mothership, we encountered football field sized foamers of good sized Yellowfin Tuna. We tried several different lures but they seemed to be keyed in to our Prohunter Splasher 140mm / 55g long cast and floating stick bait. These very game tuna were literally jumping out of the water hit them. Perhaps it was the remote location but these fish were not shy as long as the lures resembled the baitfish that were feeding on. The gear used was the Prohunter Mafia ‘Black’ 80XH PE 4-8 Popping Rod paired with Daiwa Saltiga 6500H Reels. That combo made short work of these 55-75lb schoolie tunas. We easily caught our limit, released many more within an hour and headed back to base for drinks. Rinse and repeat for the rest of the day.
