A lucet is a tool used in cordmaking or braiding which is believed to date back to the Viking and Medieval periods.*
In this video I show you how I go about making them. This is a batch for my sister who is holding a lucet class in Melbourne.
The wood for the lucets in this video comes from an old Hardwood post. Possibly spotted or blue gum.
It takes me about 40 min to finish one, most of the time taken with the rasp and sanding work. The cutting out with the coping saw takes a little over 5 minutes.
