The Healthy Hearts: Sports & Community Wellbeing Fest, held at Ducketts Common on Saturday, 21 June, was a tremendous success.

An exciting highlight was the Youth Basketball Competition between teams from Enfield and Haringey, which brought great energy and healthy competition from young people. In a closely contested tournament, Haringey narrowly edged out Enfield, demonstrating excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout.

The festival was a free, inclusive day of activities designed to support community wellbeing and raise awareness about reducing the risk of developing long-term conditions.

Attendees participated in a wide range of activities, including:
• Youth Basketball Competition between Haringey and Enfield
• Health information stalls offering blood pressure checks and practical health advice
• Dance and fitness sessions to encourage active lifestyles
• Chess and table tennis for beginners to support cognitive wellbeing and social connection
• Information, advice, and guidance on five key long-term conditions that significantly impact heart health:
o Hypertension (high blood pressure)
o Diabetes (types 1 and 2)
o Obesity
o High cholesterol
o Chronic kidney disease (CKD)

There was also an Eco-House from the Go Green Festival, as well as a stall providing employment support for those who required assistance.
