Visiting the Royal Armoury Museum Stockholm, Shocking Historical Costume!

In this video I’m visiting the Royal Armoury Museum in Stockholm and it really shocked me! I think it might just be the most underrated museum for historical costume I’ve come across so far! They have some absolutely exquisite examples of European royal court dress from the 17th and 18th centuries. They even have some pieces that date back to the 16th century!!!! I was honestly a bit in awe of what I found in here! There was also a fantastic exhibition exploring the legacy of 18th century theatre left by King Gustav the Third. He loved to put on operas, masquerades and theatricals, much like Louis XIV in France, but so much still survives from the Swedish court. There are also some fabulous examples of dress from the 19th and early 20th centuries. This is a must-see museum if you are a costume history fan and get to visit Stockholm, which is a fabulous historical city in it’s own right.
