I find out if the Aggregate trains on the Settle Carlisle line and the Rylstone branch still see Class 60s. I also accompany a subscriber on a trip to Ribblehead and Blea Moor signal box.
Filmed on 24 & 29 September and 01 October 2025
My visits to Skipton on two successive Wednesdays were as a result of my being an On Train Guide for the Friends of the Settle Carlisle Line. On each day, although we see the same workings, we do see a different selection of locomotives.
The visit to Ribblehead and Settle were as a result of joining subscriber Pål Eriksson from Sweden when he came to Carlisle and was en route to Leeds as part of a visit to railway sites in the UK. We walked across Batty Moss to Blea Moor signalbox as well as having a chat and tea / coffee in the station cafe before going down to Settle for a brief look in DCC Concepts. Thus we saw a Class 60 draw an aggregates train across the viaduct as well as cement empoties and the daily engineer's train to Basford Hall.
