സാധാരണ ഒരു വീട്ടമ്മയിൽ നിന്ന് നിയമസഭാംഗം വരെയായി മാറിയ കാനത്തിൽ ജമീലയുടെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ ജീവിതമാണ് ഈ റിപ്പോർട്ടിൽ. 1995-ൽ തലക്കുളത്തൂർ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റായി തുടങ്ങിയ അവർ പിന്നീട് ചേളന്നൂർ ബ്ലോക്ക് പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റായും കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡന്റായും പ്രവർത്തിച്ചു. 2021-ലെ നിയമസഭാ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പിൽ കൊയിലാണ്ടിയിൽ നിന്ന് 8472 വോട്ടുകൾക്ക് എൻ. സുബ്രഹ്മണ്യനെ പരാജയപ്പെടുത്തിയാണ് അവർ നിയമസഭയിലെത്തിയത്. സിപിഎം ജില്ലാ കമ്മിറ്റി അംഗം, ജനാധിപത്യ മഹിളാ അസോസിയേഷൻ ജില്ലാ പ്രസിഡന്റ് എന്നീ നിലകളിലും അവർ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു.
