Got my hands on Toraiz Squid while being a bit sceptical about its capabilities.
Some moments later I realise what a beast this is. Especially combined with AUM on iPad - Squid sends 16 channels of midi data you mangle in real time. And although most are put off by the 4 bar limitation, once you engage the midi manipulation in real time, it becomes way less limiting.
Nowadays, iOS has some amazing synths. I'd say many of them challenge the hardware counterparts. For this jam, I have used the wild Drum Computer by Sugar Bytes, Sunrizer and the squelchy Troublemaker by Bram Bos among others.
Still lots to learn about Squid and handling audio in iPad, but, having some respectable hardware, I can calmly say that this setup is on par with some of the bigger and way more expensive rigs.
I think this could become my travel dawless rig that fits in a backpack. Perfect to catch some inspiration while enjoying the views.
