Building games is super hard, especially when you need to think about the production process behind it all. But having a solid production framework can help your game studio succeed. When you know how to structure milestones, estimate effort accurately, and use player feedback effectively—you can actually plan timelines that hold up and scope that stays manageable.
I asked Yukon from Snoozy Kazoo to break down the framework her team uses and share lessons on how to manage game production.
Snoozy Kazoo is a queer-owned indie studio that makes comedic games that are, in their words, "really, really dumb." They take familiar genres—Zelda-likes, roguelites, runners, 3D friendship sims—and make them funnier and more digestible. They’ve successfully shipped Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and Turnip Boy Robs a Bank and are close to releasing Hobnobbers and Turnip Boy Steals the Mail.
