The Maestro PS-1A Phaser Shifter is one of the most iconic effect pedals out there. Used by George Harrison, Alex Lifeson, Waylon Jennings, Layne Staley and many others, they were recorded and used live by tons of pros in the 1970s and 80s. Now they're hard to find, out of production, and generally considered too big for pedalboards and too expensive for practicality. Enter the Heptode Virtuoso. This modern recreation aims to put the power of the PS-1A at your feet in a less expensive, more reliable and pedalboard-friendly way. But does it have the same mojo? We put a Strat through a Marshall Class 5 in the hopes of finding out. Come join us for the back-to-back comparison!
