Colette was a French novelist nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1948. Her best-known work, the novella Gigi, was the basis for the film and Lerner and Loewe stage production of the same name. She was also a mime, an actress, and a journalist.
Her extraordinary life has now been turned into a film starring Keira Knightley and Dominic West as her husband \Willy.
After moving to Paris, author Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette agrees to ghostwrite a semi-autobiographical novel for her husband. Its success soon inspires her to fight for creative ownership and overcome the societal constraints of the early 20th century.
Bonnie Laufer Krebs @movi_boni spoke with Keira and Dominic during the Toronto International Film festival where the film premiered.
