The season has come when sunrise arrives a little later each day, the trees grow barer, and we wrap ourselves in more and more layers. Some mornings the first snowflakes drift down - so beautiful, yet quietly reminding us that real winter is on its way.

On days like these the body asks for extra warmth and care. I rescue myself with steaming drinks, hot meals, and tiny rituals. A slice of goat cheese and smoked sausage in the morning isn’t just a treat - it’s proper goodness for the soul and the body.

Today I decided to spoil myself a little. I drove just 12 miles, and the clear sunny sky turned into thick, fairy-tale fog. In the neighbouring town I slipped into my favourite antique shop. One step over the threshold and you’re in another era. Every shelf whispered its secrets… and among hundreds of treasures I found a true gem: a 1970s Adams “English Scenic Green” tea set - peaceful green pastoral scenes with cows and horses, delicate pearl-edge border. A rimmed bowl, saucer, and teacup. My heart skipped.

I came home happy. Unboxed the pieces, gave them their first gentle wash in decades, boiled potatoes in their skins, made a warm salad with fermented vegetables (my favourite natural vitamin-C source until spring), and added a simple omelette - the protein my legs needed after all that walking.

I sat by the window, watched the sunset sky glow, sipped tea from my new-old cup, and thought: this is real luxury - a day that moves slowly, quietly, and everything feels exactly where it should be.
