I bought helicoil kit $65 to repair one of the damaged thread in the engine block. I drilled first and retapped with the kit. I used two helicoil pieces inside. The important part is to make sure the drill is completely straight or perpendicular to the block or you are going to mess it all up. Same as retapping it, keep it straight. I hope this video will help you or at least give you courage to try it before buying another block.
