Just prior to Game 3, Cardinals 3rd baseman, Terry Pendleton, announced that he would not be able to start. He will be replaced by Tom Lawless, who played in only 19 games in ‘87. Added to the fact that with Jack Clark still out of the lineup, he will be replaced by Jim Lindeman, who hit just .208 in the limited play. With limited right-handed power against the Giants left-handed starter, Atlee Hammaker, Lindeman will bat cleanup. The Cardinals will send rookie left-hander, Joe Magrane, to the mound.
