The Tomaquag Team invites you to the 2024 Annual Honoring & Cultural Celebration to recognize individuals for their advocacy and leadership in the Indigenous community. Congratulations to our 2024 Honorees!
Julia Marden:** Recipient of the Princess Red Wing Arts & Culture Award for her museum-quality Eastern Woodland Art and 17th-century style twined basketry.
Akeia de Barros Gomes, PhD:** Honored with the Eva Butler Scholar Award. Dr. Gomes is the Vice President of Maritime Studies at Mystic Seaport Museum and a Visiting Scholar at Brown University.
Autumn Rain Johnson:** Awarded the Ellison “Tarzan” Brown Champion Award for empowering disabled youth through her journey as a model and entrepreneur.
Tom Ahren:** Recipient of the Kaukont Philanthropic Award, praised for his expertise in donor communications and his work with various charities, including the Tomaquag Museum.
*Craig Spears Jr.:* Honored with the Eleanor Dove Entrepreneur Award for his dedication to stone masonry and for building a monument honoring Indigenous Veterans.
*Anita "Mother Bear" Peters:* Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, recognized for her dedication to children and traditional cultural knowledge through her craftsmanship in regalia.
*Allyson LaForge:* Awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award for her extensive volunteer work at the Tomaquag Museum, enhancing Indigenous data sovereignty for over 10,000 cultural belongings.
