In the last episode (#146), we talked about five bad habits that slowly destroy marriages. Today, we flip the script and talk about five great habits that actually build strong, godly marriages.
Most men look for quick fixes or believe big gestures are what make a marriage great. But that’s not how lasting change works. Strong marriages are built the same way strong homes are built—one brick at a time. These five habits are simple, practical bricks you can start laying today.
Brick 1: Pray with Her
Why it mattersNothing is more divorce-proof than praying together. Prayer keeps God at the center, reminds you that you’re on the same team, and softens hearts—especially in hard seasons.
What you can do
Keep it short and simple (30–60 seconds is enough)
Pray at the same time each day, like before bed
Thank God for her before asking for anything
Brick 2: Be Consistent
Why it mattersConsistency builds trust. When your wife knows you’ll show up emotionally, spiritually, and relationally, she feels safe and secure.
What you can do
Do what you say you’ll do—even in small things
Keep regular rhythms like check-ins, prayer, or time together
Choose steady faithfulness over emotional highs and lows
Brick 3: Be a Great Listener
Why it mattersA woman feels loved when she feels heard. Listening well communicates respect, care, and connection.
What you can do
Don’t always try to fix the problem
Ask, “Do you want me to listen or help solve this?”
Reflect back what you heard before responding
Brick 4: Be the Lead Servant
Why it mattersBiblical leadership looks like Jesus—serving, sacrificing, and taking responsibility. When you serve first, you lead well.
What you can do
Lighten her load without being asked
Take initiative instead of waiting for direction
Lead spiritually by initiating conversations about God
Brick 5: Keep Dating Her and Winning Her Heart
Why it mattersMany men stop pursuing after they “win” her. Marriage doesn’t replace pursuit—it requires it. Ongoing pursuit keeps connection, romance, and friendship strong.
What you can do
Schedule regular date time and protect it
Learn what makes her feel loved (and remember this can change)
Flirt, compliment, and show intentional, non-sexual affection
Final Thoughts
Strong marriages aren’t built in a moment. They’re built brick by brick through small, faithful habits. Choose one of these habits to practice daily this week and start laying a stronger foundation today.
