how to crochet a patchwork dress

How to crochet an easy patchwork dress from Zara. Good for beginning crocheters. This dress looks a lot harder to make than it is.

For the Squares:

Make a magic circle.
Chain 1.
12 double crochet stitches
Slip stitch
Attach next color.
Chain 1
2 half double crochet stitches
3 double crochet stitches in the same hole.
Repeat for the remaining stitches, connect with a slip stitch

Repeat with the next color, except do 4 double crochet stitches in the same hole.

Then for the remaining colors go back to 3 double crochet stitches in the same hole.

Either make 50 total squares or make as many as you need for your measurements.

If you are doing 50 squares, make 10 of each color combination. If you are doing more or less, just pick a random color combination to do more or less of.

For the Cups:

Magic circle in brown
Chain 1
12 double crochet stitches
Slip stitch
Attach the white
Chain 1
Two half double crochet stitches in the same hole.
3 half double crochet stitches.
Once you are at the middle, 3 double crochet stitches in the same hole.
3 half double crochet stitches
Two half double crochet stitches in the same hole.

Repeat with different colors until the cup is big enough.

Then attach 3 colors starting in the middle, getting closer and closer to the top

To Sew the Squares Together:

Use an embroidery needle and white yarn
Start by tying two corners together
The line sew the two squares together lining up the stitches, and make sure you cross over on the back so that the stitches are straight.
For the stripes on the side, just attach the yarn and do half double crochet stitches along the side of the square. Repeat with as many colors as you need until it matches your measurement.
Tie the ends together, then stitch the squares together lengthways.

Crochet a pink half double crochet stitch down both sides.
Sew the cups to the main body.
Sew the cups to each other.
Tie all the yarn ends to each other then cut them off.

Do the scalloped edging along the top and bottom:

Attach the white yarn
Chain 1
Do 2 slip stitches
4 double crochet stitches in the same hole
Repeat

Straps:

Attach white yarn to the top of the cup
Chain 2
2 triple crochet stitches
Repeat
Sew to the back with an embroidery needle and white yarn
