Yasuhiro Roppongi 六本木 康弘 - Taro Namatame
Masami Itou 伊藤 マサミ - Tohru Adachi
Shotaro Mamiya 間宮 祥太朗 - Gas Station Attendant
Persona 4 Spoilers
If you're confused, "Visualive the Evolution" is the sequel to "Visualive." After leaving it on a cliffhanger from Naoto's Shadow, this stage picks it up from there while going through the True Ending.
It's also worth noting that the screenplay writer and director has changed for this stageplay. As for actors, Rise and Naoto finally get stage actors! Teddie is still stuck as a mascot, Nanako is just a projection, while Yukiko and Izanami, also the gas station attendant, had changed actors entirely.
This scene takes place before the cultural festival, and the scene where Nanako's hinted to be the next to appear on the midnight channel. For narrative effect and for the audience who may or may have not fully understood the game, this an exclusively written scene where "Emptiness," "Despair," and "Hope" congregate in one location whilst Izanami manages to catch them as a gas station attendant doing mechanic work because of Moel finally succumbing to the shopping district's economic depression. The three who Izanami had given powers to access the TV World.
Contrary to common belief, Izanami had nothing to do with their Persona ability nor the strange specificality of handing out Izanagis left and right. In fact, as Ame-no-Sagiri, Izanami had clearly stated they were surprised of the potential of Persona in the first place and thought all humans would die under the wrath of their Shadows.
There aren't a lot of particular translation notes. But here are a few:
You wouldn't understand how many times I've wondered whether I should put every "ah" and "oh" in the sub. Also (un)pog Namatame was the last thing I would think of seeing considering what this guy just went through. You can compare it to his npc dialogue in the shopping district and Samegawa and see how he moped around so much compared to being energetic here in the stageplay.
I may add closed captions and names like before soon but not now since I'm staying up to make this for vle's anni KAJFHLEABFG
Adachi's slurring and accent is still a pain to comprehend but it's funny listening to him.
00:36 : Hayato left out the "-san" after being annoyed Adachi wouldn't respond to him. And as commonly understood, honorifics are important in Japanese culture.
00:51 : B-grade sushi can also be ranked as "silver." It's basically pretty fancy (and expensive) sushi that Adachi got on his whiny ass to beg Dojima for and enough servings for them, Hayato and Nanako.
00:57 : This part was funny bc i have no idea if they're anywhere near the gas station and why the attendant just decided,.,., to come without an umbrella LMAO i understand having a secret toolbox somewhere but walking around in the rain is funny. along with the fact the game decides to put them directly under the rain on the street rather that under the station's canopy like ok i guess we decided this guy has an immune system built to be waterproof might as well throw them in Samegawa and they'll be fine
1:52 : I couldn't get this into english right but the joke here is that you'd have to be a weirdo—not normal—just to get a job at Moel which is why you'd hear the audience laughing
