Speed colouring of the Sea Goddess picture in Hanna Karlzon's 'Dagdrommar' colouring book. (Known as Daydreams in English.)
I am aware that a lot of people like to stick to pencils, markers or gel pens with their colouring books. With this video I thought it would be nice to demonstrate another type of media and hopefully make a few people a bit more adventurous in trying something different. I love painting with watercolours although I'm pretty terrible at it. The number of books you can use watercolour in is a little limited but they are out there.
I use a variety of different media in colouring this picture. Much of the foundation layer is painted with a type of watercolor called 'Twinkling H2O's' which are a shimmery mica infused watercolor. I deepen and vary the colour with several layers of coloured pencil and use a Mitsubishi Uniball white gel pen and Micador Aquapainters ( fine tipped paint pens) for all the sparklies and bright details.
I enjoyed laying the foundation colour with watercolours. there is some minor buckling of the paper because it isn't sized watercolour paper but not enough to bother me. There was a little bleed through with the very dark violet paint but nothing I couldn't fix up.
