Light microscope, 100x - oil immersion objective (enhanced by camera zoom).
Isolated from a working surface (kitchen table), and cultured on nutrient agar (2:00).
As gram positive bacteria (G+), Bacillus sp. appear as blue rods (1:32).
They are moving (flagellate) and spore forming bacteria. The spore helps them endure during unfavorable conditions. As for now, 266 different species have been described. Two of them are medically significant: Bacillus anthracis (the causative agent of anthrax) and Bacillus cereus (which can lead to food poisoning).
NOTICE: the general movement of the rods in this video, is caused by the evaporation of the fluid from the slide, and other vibrations caused during observing. But, with a little bit more attention to singular bacterial cells, it is possible to see the autonomous movements of the bacteria.
