Great Valley Trail - Bright to Harrietville - Victorian Alpine Region

This afternoon Paul and I hired eBikes and took the 16 km Great Valley Trail that completes a 27 kilometre link between Harrietville and Bright, and extending the Murray River to Mountains Rail Trail to the base of the Alps.

The sight of snow the covered Alps along the route was breathtaking, as was the thunderous snow melt in the rivers.

The trail follows the Ovens River and explores the beautiful valley between Bright and Harrietville. The trail is flat and fully sealed, suitable for both road bikes and mountain bikes.

We followed the rail trail from the center of Bright towards the Tawonga Gap turnoff andt then wound your way through eucalypts and farm land along a spectacular valley to arrive in Harrietville where we had lunch.

The locally made hazel nut icecream was delicious, as was the home made spinach and feta quiche.

Gunadoo Berries

The Mountain Fresh Trout and Salmon Farm. It is for sale at the moment, if you have a lazy $4.2 million.

Alpine Perennials

There was a 3 km traffic jam to get into the Falls Creek Ski Resort this morning. They ran out of parking for those on day tickets. So I am glad we chose an eBike trip today. Almost a week of snow fall starts tonight tending to blizzard conditions mid week. So we'll be back skiing tomorrow. But first some strength and conditioning training tonight in the local gym.
