কলকাতার ব্রিটিশ দুর্গ আক্রমণ করে ১৭৫৬ সালের ২০ জুন সিরাজদৌল্লা নাকি ১৪৬ জন ব্রিটিশকে দুর্গের এক ফালি ঘরে বন্দি করেন। সেই ঘটনার একমাত্র বর্ণনা দিয়েছিলেন দুর্গের কর্তা হলওয়েল।
আসলে কি সত্যি এই ঘটনা ঘটেছিল? ভারতীয় ইতিহাসবিদদের বড় অংশ অবশ্য এই ঘটনা নিয়ে সন্দিহান। তাঁদের দাবি, এই ঘটনা ব্রিটিশদের অতিরঞ্জিত। আবার অনেকে মনে করেন, আদৌ অন্ধকূপ এর মত কোন ঘটনা হয়নি। কিংবা হলেও, এত প্রাণহানি হয়নি। এই পর্বে আলোচনা করা হয়ছে একটি বিতর্কিত ও একটি অমীমাংসিত ইতিহাস- ব্ল্যাক হোল ট্রাজেডি সম্পর্কে।

Siraj Ud Daulah attacked the British fort in Calcutta and on June 20, 1756, imprisoned 146 British in a room in the fort. The only description of the incident was given by the fort's commander, Hollowell.
Did this incident really happen? However, a large part of Indian historians are skeptical about this incident. They claim that this incident was exaggerated by the British. Many others believe that the Black Hole massacre did not happen at all. Or at least, there were not so many causalities. This episode discusses a controversial and unresolved history - the Black Hole Tragedy.
