Lawnmower blades can be a great way to find cheap knife making steel, and there are thousands of projects you can create from them.

You never know what might be available to you after the apocalypse so here's how to make a great little cleaver from a lawnmower blade. Or you can just think of it as a fun way to make something useful by upcycling some steel scrap.

This is my fifth or sixth knife from a lawnmower blade and it's a project I've been wanting to do for a while. I wanted a small easy to make cleaver/chopper with a nice sharp edge that could be made without a forge and really with minimal tools.

Tools used on this project included: Metal files, sandpaper, black and decker angle grinder, bench vice and belt grinder... and more.
