Why Chris Benoit Was AWESOME

Oh Kay let’s get the obvious and at this point boring stuff out of the way: what Chris Benoit did to his family in 2007 was awful. It sucks and I’m one of the infinite that wishes it never happened. But I never knew Chris Benoit in real life. I never watched one of his matches and thought hm, great match but I hope he’s a good guy in real life. I don’t care what wrestlers are like in real life. I hope they’re good people in the same way that I hope everyone is a good person, but my relationship with them starts and ends with the character I see on the screen. And on screen, no one then or since has been as solid in the ring as Chris Benoit. Throughout middle school and high school, every single time I turned on Raw or Smackdown it was Chris Benoit who was having the match of the night. At every PPV I went and saw in the theater, it was Chris Benoit who was having the match of the night. For those of us who are fans of wrestling, like the actual matches in the ring, not the promos, characters or drama, just the straight wrestling, no one then or since is better than the Crippler, Chris Benoit.
