J3 Tactical Pistol Standards

Sawyer, Jack, Aaron, and Miles tackle the J3 Tactical Pistol Standards put out by Brandon Hetzler. These are some spicy standards! UPDATE: you are allowed only 2 makeups for the entire course of fire, not 2 per stage.

"The J3 Tactical pistol standards include a heavy emphasis on speed and accuracy to prepare for a self defense situation. There is no such thing as being too good when you are fighting for your life.

The test includes the following:

-speed
-accuracy
-weapons manipulation
-movement
-transitions

We created the pistol standard to give students goals to strive for and incentive to improve. We emphasize performance while under stress and pressure.

The pistol standards test can also ve a part of private training or designated special training events.

J3 TACTICAL PISTOL STANDARDS:
STAGE 1: 3 yards. Draw from concealment, fire 3 shots to USPSA alpha, 2 shots to 3x5 card size target. 1.99 seconds.
STAGE 2: 3 yards. Draw from concealment, while moving backwards, fire 2 shots to USPSA alpha, reload and fire 1 shot to 3x5 card. 4.0 seconds.
STAGE 3: 5 yards. Draw from concealment, fire 2 shots to 3x5 card. 1.99 seconds.
STAGE 4: 5 yards. Draw from concealment, fire 1 shot in the USPSA alpha. 0.99 seconds.
STAGE 5: 7 yards. Draw from concealment, fire 2 shots to 3x5 card, reload and fire 4 shots to 3x5 card. 6.0 seconds.
Stage 6: 15 yards. Draw from concealment, fire 1 shot to USPSA alpha. 1.5 seconds.

All standards are from concealment. If not concealed, the following will be added to your time:
Competition holster no retention - add .20 seconds.
ALS + SLS - subtract .20 seconds.
ALS only - no extra time added.

Reloads will have an additional .20 seconds if your reload is not from concealment.

Starting positions are as follows: Hands relaxed, hands at side, hands high thoracic. You are NOT allowed to prep your garment.

Two mulligans are allowed at each stage.

Two make ups are allowed per course of fire."
