Couples in love can argue, and yet still each be likeable and have a great love connection, too!

Frequently, for actors, in argumentative scenes, it is easy to came off as unlikable, annoying, sarcastic, rude, etc., as a character, who can turns the audience off. However, the actors who are aware of this pitfall, these actors can still have the most intense argument in a scene, yet, still, when during and after the argument is over, the audience still likes the characters, even though they may even be mean...yet...the audience still wants to watch them. Like in this scene, where it is a couple, after the argument, if played correctly, the audience may or may not feel they are still a good partner, but that really is not the issue here. The issue is does the audience want to spend time with this person and observe them in the film. Do they want to 'connect' to them. Some actors cannot do this effectively and the audience may find themselves turned off to watching their work in the film after the argument, or don't even enjoy their work in the future. But, if the actor makes the right choices, those including attributes of dignity and class, for example, they can get away with almost anything in a scene and still entice the audience and keep them wanting to watch you. In this Gilmore Girls' scene, our student, Grant, has his point of view, and even though some might find his way of thinking 'old fashioned' and even a bit 'off-putting', I find he is still a character i enjoy watching, and is one who is filled with empathy. He is one the audience frequently may enjoy watching. In the case with with Eva and her work in the scene. She is yelling and screaming, but still she is fascinating to watch, charming and we like spending time with her.

The Heller Approach is an acting technique taught exclusively by Brad Heller, who coached actors for 5 years at UCLA before opening his own studio in 1995. Heller's teachings are based on the works of his former teacher and mentor, Don Richardson, an original member of the legendary Group Theatre, which was the nucleus of acting in the United States. Richardson's fellow students were Sanford Meisner, Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg, and Uta Hagen. Don was one of the Group Theatre students who said, "The Method is NOT what acting is about." Don's acting technique became a rescue for Brad Heller because despite having a degree in theater from one of the world's finest theater programs, Boston University School of Theater Arts, and trying multiple acting techniques, Brad could not enjoy the process of acting. Combining Don Richardson's acting technique with the knowledge of anxiety from Dr. Eda Gorbis and lessons from his mentor Academy Award winner Seth Winston, and more, the Heller Approach has become trusted by thousands of students globally.
