Villagers primarily harvest rice manually using a sickle. Cut stalks are gathered into bundles and left to dry. Threshing is then done, traditionally by beating or trampling the bundles, or more commonly now, with small machines to separate the grain. Finally, winnowing is done to remove the chaff.
