Nightreign in Elden Ring is FromSoftware and Bandai Namco's new ARPG focused on a three-player co-op roguelike experience. It is a stand-alone game that features familiar and new mechanics such as grand boss battles, epic combat, new distinct playable characters, a new magical raptor used for gliding through the air, and more.

Elden Ring's Nightreign was announced during the Game Awards 2024 and will be released on May 30, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation®5, and PlayStation®4.

Nightreign is an action game in which you take on overwhelming situations together with other players. In this title, which retains some of the enemies, weapons, and other elements of "ELDEN RING" but has been reconstructed with a completely different game design, players will control characters with different personalities and take on new threats.

Elden Ring is set in a dark fantasy world called the "Lands Between." The world was created by the Elden Ring, a powerful object that has been shattered, leading to chaos and turmoil. Players assume the role of the "Tarnished," a character who has been exiled and embarks on a quest to restore the Elden Ring and bring order to the world.

The game features a diverse cast of characters, including gods, giants, dragons, and other mysterious beings, each with their own motives and agendas.

Elden Ring is known for its intentionally cryptic and enigmatic storytelling style, where much of the lore is left open to interpretation and speculation. Players need to piece together clues, engage in speculative discussions with the community, and make their own interpretations to fully understand the lore of Elden Ring and its intricacies.

Elden Ring is also an action role-playing game played in a third-person perspective with gameplay focusing on combat and exploration; it features elements similar to those found in other games developed by FromSoftware, such as the Souls series, Bloodborne, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Director Hidetaka Miyazaki explained that players start with a linear opening but eventually progress to freely explore the Lands Between, including its six main areas, as well as castles, fortresses, and catacombs scattered throughout the open world map. These main areas are interconnected through a central hub that players can access later in the game's progression—similar to Firelink Shrine from Dark Souls—and are explorable using the character's mount as the main mode of transport, although a fast travel system is an available option.
