The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad has brought the largest steam engine east of the Mississippi back to life! The 1309 was delivered to the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad in 1949 and had a very short working life. After lying dormant for 62 years, this behemoth of the rails is back doing what it was built to do... conquering the Allegheny Mountains of Western Maryland.
