Ground Rod Installation For a Temporary Antenna - Water Jet/Garden Hose Method

THIS IS FOR A TEMPORARY RF GROUND ROD TO TEST RECEIVING ANTENNAS. THIS IS NOT FOR A SAFETY OR ELECTRICAL GROUND. DO NOT USE THIS AS SUCH.

In this video I demonstrate how I use the water jet or garden hose method to install a 10 ft long, 1/2" diameter copper pipe ground rod I use for all of my antennas. This method works best in locations where soil has few rocks. With very sandy soils this works like cutting butter with a hot knife. In addition to ground rod installation, I show one way you can disguise the rod and make it relatively safe in high traffic areas such as the middle of your yard as well as briefly discuss the use of materials that may or may not help ground conductivity.

Note: I put this ground rod in is for experimental use when testing out a new antenna design on my test tripod and therefore it will not be in use most of the time. The reason for the access cover is to allow the area to be useable and safe for my kids, dog etc. when Daddy is not doing "nerd experiments" or "antenna stuff". THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE USED AS A SAFETY GROUND FOR ELECTRICAL HOUSE WIRING. I only use this method for receiving antennas that need an RF ground to operate.
