I will let Simonne tell the history of this medieval watermill:
"I’ve taken this photograph in 2000. This mill has indeed a rather turbulent history. It was first mentioned in 1290(!), then disappeared into history to turn up again in 1429. During the religious wars of the sixteenth century and during the 18th and 19th century the mill was burned down several times, and was even once devastated by a storm, but happily rebuild again. Intriguing is that the mill works the other way around. The water doesn’t run in from above, pushing the blades down, but runs underneath the mill pushing the blades up."
