Lion Air Flight 610 crashed into the Java Sea 13 minutes after takeoff, killing all 189 occupants

Lion Air Flight 610, a Boeing 737 MAX 8 bound for Pangkal Pinang, Indonesia, crashed into the Java Sea shortly after takeoff from Soekarno–Hatta International Airport in Jakarta, because of a design flaw in the Maneuvering Characteristics Augmentation System (MCAS), an automatic flight stabilization programme. All 181 passengers and eight crew were killed in the worst accident involving the Boeing 737.
