Though no interior fittings, and not yet a brand livery. This three car dmu railcar set, is to undergo track running trials in the Byford area.
Watco crew with leased, Rail Heritage WA loco, AB 1535. Collected the new Australind DMU three railcar set, from Metronet / Alstom Bellevue Railcar Facility.
And hauled the Australind railcar set, overnight Friday 25th September 2025, to Perth Station's platform 3. And with some running around, the AB remained coupled up, to the new Australind railcar set, and shut down for the day on Saturday 27th.
I presume showing off, for publicity purposes during the busy Perth Royal Show Event.🙂
Early Sunday morning 28th September. The AB was fired up, to haul the new Australind set to Byford (Armadale Line terminus station).
Last sighting was, the new Australind set was stabled on the main line, hidden amongst the treescape at Cardup, the next locality south of Byford. (Approx 4 kms south.)
Which meant that the Watco crew on AB1535, must've have then ran as LE movement to Mundijong Junction, then Kwinana. Then I guess to Kenwick.....A long way around!
Security officers were spotted sitting in their vehicles, keeping watch to prevent any vandalism etc.
Test trial runs will be carried out With a second three car new Australind set, still remaining at Bellevue Railcar Facility. Also requiring track running trials.
The WA State Labor Government, has announced that the new Australind service between Perth and Bunbury, will recommence early next year, in 2026.
Also adding an extra two Australind three car dmu sets to be built in the near future. (Already on order.)
To provide realabiity and promote the demand by increasing the frequency of services to cater for the growing population in the Peel and Bunbury regions.
