Kit N Caboodle Pro Cut A4 Die Cutting Machine - Blue Edition - Plastic Gears

A number of presenters and demonstrators on Create and Craft TV keep on claiming that the Kit N Caboodle Pro Cut is ALL metal inside, when there are two plastic gears or cogs.

The first part of the video contains the broadcast segments, and the second part (from 01:46) shows the two plastic gears.

The broadcasts are misleading, in that they claim that the gears inside the latest (as of November 2022) Kit N Caboodle Pro Cut Blue Edition Die Cutting machines are ALL metal, when two of them are actually white plastic.

The dissembled Blue Edition of the Kit N Caboodle Pro Cut in the video was purchased new from Create and Craft in November 2022.

There are two white plastic gears, possibly some grade of nylon. The gears are mould injected (produced in a plastic mould injection machine).

The use of metal gears could imply strength/reliability/high quality, whilst plastic gears could imply weakness/un-reliable/low quality.

Paula Pascual “Right, now we have had a question as well about the inside, we have been saying about it’s heavy, you know 6 or 7 kilos in weight, which means that it is metal inside, including the cogs?”

Dawn Wheeler “Yes, inside here they are metal construction, because back in the day a lot of the machines that were out there, had plastic cogs, and a lot of the plastic, yes there will be obviously little tiny bits, I’m not saying it’s 100% metal in there. There will be some little tiny plastic bits in there, I’m not going to say to you there might not be a little bit, but all the main components in there, the rollers and everything are all metal, that what gives it the weight. It’s not like back in the day you know like with the Grand Caliburs [a hand operated die cutting machine], and I’m going to say it, they were metal rollers, but the cogs on the side were plastic. So after a while, they started to soften, and over usage they ground themselves down“

Paula Pascual “Ah we that it is an electrical machine, it has to be more even, like kinda the pressure has to be more a certain degree and you know everything, so has to be metal in order to deliver all those amazing results every time…”
