Be sure that the retromolar pad area also has adequate thickness of land (the impression should not directly make contact with the boxing wax)
The end result should exhibit the following:
1) Smooth transition of the alveolar ridge to the master cast.
2) Vestibules of the altered cast should be HIGHER than the vestibules of the master cast.
3) The space between alveolar ridge and the denture base should be roughly same as before or smaller. Greater space indicates distal pressure during impression, or poor seating of the framework during impression or pour up.
4) Visible alveolar ridge and vestibules with adequate land.
Tips for removing impression: If the tray is stuck on the cast, use a straight bur to section the tray in half and wiggle each pieces out with an instrument, being mindful of the cast. Add more stone to areas that are thin that may break during the removal of the tray, prior to attempting to remove the tray.
