"Dear friends and music lovers,
My disciple Madhuvanti, who started her career as a bold model, exited from her fashion and painters' world to immerse herself in the deeper chords of Rudraveena, after playing violin for sometime.
She was determined to take up this instrument as a gesture of revival of interest of women instrumentalists of Bengal in Dhrupad style, and out of her reverence for Bishnupur Gharana which, at its peak period was a pathfinder in Dhrupad song and other forms of Dhrupad instruments like the Rudraveena and Surbahar.
Madhuvanti was also for some years a disciple, simultaneously an assistant guru at Bhopal Gurukul under the Gundecha Brothers until circumstances compelled her to return to her hometown and resume her learning here.
While learning herself, Madhuvanti is also encouraging and tutoring learners, specially women, to take up these Dhrupad instruments to keep up the age old tradition.
