Although Nimrod’s name is not directly mentioned in the Qur’an, many Islamic scholars identify him as the ruler in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:258) who argued with Prophet Ibrahim about life, death, and Allah’s authority.

Discover the rise of King Nimrod Ibn Canaan, one of the four rulers said to have ruled the entire earth. He claimed to be a god, demanded worship, and opposed Prophet Ibrahim’s call to monotheism. He was among the first tyrants to wear a crown and to learn sorcery from Iblis, according to some narrations. Despite being given chances to repent, Nimrod refused — and Allah sent a tiny creature, a mosquito, that led to his ultimate downfall, showing that even the mightiest ruler is powerless before Allah.
