In this Georges Camera video, John takes a look at two new gimbals from Manfrotto. Manfrotto has created a pair of gimbals for influencers and content creators that want to achieve cinematic and dynamic video. The Manfrotto Gimbal 220 is the smaller of the two and supports up to 2.2kg. The Manfrotto Gimbal 460 has a longer handle and supports much bigger kits up to 4.6kg. Aside from the size difference, the two gimbals are near identical in features and performance.

The Manfrotto Gimbal 220 and 460 provide a fluid and flexible motion control and stabilisation. What’s more, they deliver an impressive 360° Pan, 230° Tilt & 360° Roll Rotation. The gimbals are well made and incredibly rigid, meaning you can put these through their paces and have no fears of gear damage. Each of the Manfrotto gimbals comes with detachable tripod legs allowing you to stand the tripod upright for time-lapse and convenience. The 220 comes with an additional grip to provide greater comfort and flexibility for unusual and long shooting conditions. The 460, however, does not include the grip, but it is available for purchase separately.

The Manfrotto Gimbal 220 and 460 feature locking axis arms, as well as a smooth action thumb-stick to control the direction of your gimbal. On top of the record/shutter button, there are buttons to shift between shooting modes as well between stills and video.
To the side is a large dial used to control the pan, roll and tilt. The bright, clear and responsive touch screen provides access to functions and features. A double-tap of the front mode button repositions the camera in its balanced state.

What’s especially neat about the Manfrotto Gimbal 220 and 460 is the ability to jump from landscape to portrait orientation at a tap of the touchscreen. It’s ideal for those that love to shoot portrait orientation for mobile-friendly video content. Unique shooting modes include an Inception cinematic barrel roll and setting the gimbal to time-lapse with slow panning. The 220 battery life will give you seven hours of gimbal use via the internal battery charged through USB-C. The 460 has a rechargeable battery pack that charges the four batteries externally to provide 12 hours of use.

The Manfrotto GimBoom is an add-on that extends the reach of the gimbal handle, making it perfect for sweeping shots and gaining height for cinematic content. Manfrotto also offers a follow-focus mechanism for superior focus control during video recording. Plus, there is a gimbal remote control that allows you to plug your smartphone in and capture content from a distance.
