VARIOUS - Zhirinovsky

A fierce gun battle broke out between the Russian borderguards
and Tadjik guerillas late Saturday (29/4) as a Russian State Duma
delegation arrived at the 12th border outpost. The deputies,
dressed in camouflage fatigues and led by the ultranationalist
Vladimir Zhirinovsky, stayed in the trenches near Moskovsky, while
light tanks and heavy machine guns fired at the rebels' positions.
The State Duma delegation was commissioned to examine the
situation on the Tadjik-Afghan border and is due to report to the
lower house next week.
