'Harlem Nocturne' was composed by Earle Hagen (music) and Dick Rogers (lyrics) in 1939 for the Ray Noble orchestra, of which they were both members. Since that time it has probably been recorded by every major band and jazz soloist you could mention. My all time favourite version of this song is from Illinois Jacquet's 1956 album 'Swing's The Thing' (check it out if you don't know it) however I think I've only ever heard it recorded on Theatre Organ once which was by Simon Gledhill on his 1990 Castro Wurlitzer cd.
I guess my arrangement is a bit of a mixture of both of those recordings and is performed using Hauptwerk virtual organ software and the fabulous new Wurlitzer Opus 1680 sounds from Melotone Sound Productions.
