Welcome to Wolf Data, From 1962 onward, beer consumption was initially dominated by European countries such as Germany, the United Kingdom, and the Czech lands, where beer formed a central part of cultural traditions. The United States emerged as one of the world’s largest beer consumers in total volume during the late 20th century, driven by population growth and mass-market brewing. From the 1990s onward, China experienced rapid growth in beer consumption, eventually becoming the world’s largest beer-consuming country by total volume in the 2000s. Russia also ranked highly for several decades before experiencing declines due to demographic shifts and alcohol regulations. In the 2010s, emerging markets such as Brazil, Mexico, and Vietnam increased their global share as incomes and urbanization rose. Meanwhile, many Western European countries saw stable or declining consumption due to changing lifestyles and health awareness. Overall, the period from 1962 to 2025 reflects a shift from traditional European dominance toward large-population and emerging economies leading global beer consumption.
