Major Corruption in Odisha Police SI Exam, 117 Candidates and 2 Middlemen Arrested

A major corruption scandal has surfaced in the Police SI examination conducted by the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB). Following the revelation, the police recruitment board has canceled the examination. The Crime Branch has arrested 117 candidates and 2 middlemen in connection with the incident. Information has come to light regarding a deal for a bribe of Rs 29.25 crore in this scam. Each of the 117 arrested candidates had paid Rs 10 lakh, with a deal to pay another Rs 15 lakh each after the examination. The Crime Branch has provided this information, and Crime Branch DG Binaytosh Mishra is in Berhampur overseeing the investigation. A five-member investigative team led by a Crime Branch SP is investigating in Balasore and Berhampur, with support from another team of district police. The OPRB had received intelligence that an Andhra Pradesh-based organization was transporting question papers by bus on Monday. Based on this information, a three-member board meeting was held on Monday evening, chaired by DG Prisons and OPRB Chairman Sushant Kumar Nath. The examination was canceled after further discussions in a board meeting on Tuesday. The Crime Branch has been requested to take strict action to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future.
