Piracy is having a comeback moment — and a lot of people are acting like it’s some kind of moral rebellion against the streaming mess we’re in. And yeah, I get the frustration. Streaming turned into cable 2.0, everything’s scattered, prices went up, and nothing stays on one platform for more than six months.
But piracy isn’t the answer.
In today’s video, I break down why this “new golden age of torrenting” isn’t nearly as harmless as people think — legally, creatively, or technologically. From unenforced laws that can suddenly matter again, to the downstream impact on the people who actually make movies and shows, to the malware traps hiding behind those “clean” piracy sites… it’s not the clever workaround people online hype it up to be.
Then I get into the real solution: building your own digital library. One-time purchases, permanent access, no subscription treadmill. It’s what I do with my Apple account — and it gives you freedom without crossing legal or ethical lines.
And honestly? The more annoying streaming gets, the more I’ve realized it’s not even worth bingeing. Go live your life. Watch stuff you actually value. And don’t buy into the idea that breaking the law makes you a freedom fighter.
Piracy doesn’t fix the system. It just creates new problems.
Let’s talk about it.
