Hwajeong-dong consists of Eunbit Village and Moonbit Village (Hwajeong 1-dong), Byeolbit Village and Okbit Village (Hwajeong 2-dong). This area was originally a typical rural village in the Goyang area, where there was a flower water village called Golmeori, Hwasu village, and a village called'Chanwoomul'. The reason why this place was called Hwajeong was named after each letter from Hwasuchon Village and Naengjeong Village, the representative villages of the region before development.
