Known in the lanes as “Di Lion Voice of Trenchtown”, Tafari sang with a raw, trembling truth that echoed through zinc fences, corner gatherings, and night-time drum sessions.

These rediscovered tapes were captured in an abandoned yard studio lit by one humming bulb, where Nyabinghi drummers tapped out the struggles of daily survival and broken youths found hope in rhythm. The album pulses with dusty basslines, militant grooves, and a spiritual heaviness born from hardship, faith, and the unbroken spirit of the ghetto people.

From the opening sermon “Streets of Zion Rise” to the fierce rebel meditation “Cry of the Tenement Youth”, Ghetto Roots carries Tafari’s unmistakable growl — a voice scarred by reality yet uplifted by Jah’s inner flame.
