Saintayme from Denis Durantou is dark garnet-red colored and lightly transparent. Intense with cassis, dark cherries, licorice, and delicious hints of mocha, vanillin and clove. Soft and medium-bodied with a balanced acidity and a good portion of tannins. Comfortable. Cool red fruits without over-extraction. Once again intense and with a spicy finish. Best now through 2018 (May 2011). 91 PS

Volpolo from Podere Sapaio is a blend of Cabernet sauvignon 70%, Merlot 15% and Petit verdot 15%. Deep garnetred colored with a massive intensity of cassis, raspberries, green pepper and beautiful roasting aromas. Spicy. Full-bodied with mouth-watering acidity and fine tannins. Full of dark fruit. Very good finish. Best now through 2020 (May 2011). 92 PS
