One of my favourite feelings while painting in watercolour is when a scene unfolds almost on its own. It doesn't happen every time, but I know that it happens only if I drop any expectations right at the start, and allow curiosity and experimentation take over and guide me during the initial abstract wash. This helps build a strong foundation for a landscape.
Let's see how this glowing, autumnal scene came to life. It was a joyful, playful process, and this is what painting in watercolour is all about for me.
